Ullapool is a picturesque fishing village located on the shores of Loch Broom and on the NC500 tourist route. It is a popular holiday destination and a gateway to the Northern Highlands. Although located in one of the least spoiled environments in the country Ullapool has many attractions and activities for visitors to enjoy.

The town has a wide range of restaurants cafes and pubs offering local fare and entertainments. Ullapool is also a great place to buy unique gifts or stock up on supplies as it has a host of shops selling crafts, books, clothing and food. The town’s attractions include the Ullapool Museum which covers the social history of Lochbroom, Highland Stoneware Pottery as well as a number of art galleries. Visitors are invited to ‘walk-on and play’ at Ullapool Golf course, and enjoy the spectacular views of the course, located on the shores of Lochbroom. Other sporting facilities in the town include a swimming pool and leisure centre.

Ullapool is an ideal place for walkers with routes in mountain regions, by rocky coasts and along inland footpaths which cover some of the finest summits in the North West Highlands visit walk Highlands. One of the most popular walks is the Ullapool Hill route which, although short and accessible, provides fantastic views of the town and the Summer Isles.

For wildlife spotters there is a range of boat trips from Ullapool to the Summer Isles featuring the chance to see dolphins, porpoises, seals, and sea eagles.

The Calmac Ferries from Ullapool Pier provide daily sailings to Stornoway, Lewis and the Outer Hebrides

Ullapool is a great base to explore the country side of Wester Ross and the Highlands. West of Ullapool is the Inverpolly National Nature Reserve where you can find pine martens, wild cats, buzzards and golden eagles. South of Ullapool you find attractions such as, Lael Forest Garden and the famous Inverewe Gardens.
